Attached below is an "Aboriginal Affairs Policy Statement" which used to be available on Deep Well Oil and Gas' web site. Lubicon Nation researchers found it there last August and printed it out.

You won't find the "Aboriginal Affairs Policy Statement" on Deep Well's site any longer. In fact it has been missing for some time.

Perhaps the contrast between the high-minded language of the policy and the hard reality of Deep Well's actions in Lubicon Traditional Territory became too much to bear for Deep Well's web-site manager.

Deep Well Oil and Gas Inc.

Aboriginal Affairs Policy Statement

The Board and Management of Deep Well Oil & Gas, Inc. are planning for a future that will include strong, positive relationships with its neighbours, including affected Aboriginal communities.

Notwithstanding the fact that Deep Well Oil & Gas, Inc. does not currently hold oil sands leases under traditional Aboriginal lands, we believe that responsible development must take into account those local concerns about the effects of industrial development on corporately held Crown lands that may be situated near traditional lands and resources.

As the Deep Well Oil & Gas Inc. Plan proceeds, management will endeavour to join neighbouring community leaders in a series of roundtable discussions designed to advise and inform those stakeholders of ongoing corporate planning. It is the intention of DWOG to establish a bilateral avenue of communication through the establishment of an Aboriginal Affairs Committee that will necessarily include representative(s) of the local community.

Deep Well Oil & Gas, Inc. will, through its normal course of business, have employment opportunity for appropriately qualified individuals. The inclusion of the local population, where feasible, into our workforce is beneficial to both the local community and to the Corporation.
